A Brazil-born host, a proven local crew, and a floating lodge built for the wild waters of Barcelos.
Born in Brazil and raised between two worlds, John has dedicated his life to connecting American fishermen with the true Amazon — not the tourist version, but the real, wild, unforgettable Rio Negro.
After years working in logistics and client services in the United States, John returned to his passion: sharing the Amazon he grew up loving. Today, he serves as the U.S.-based partner and host for BlackFish Amazon Adventures, ensuring every guest feels supported, informed, and taken care of from the moment they land in Brazil until they return home with stories of a lifetime.
Peacock Expeditions partners with Black Fish Barcelos, owned and operated by John’s good friend Alex, based in Barcelos — the Sport Fishing Capital of the Peacock Bass.
The crew is one of the true strengths of the operation: experienced, professional, and deeply knowledgeable of the waters around Barcelos. From the guides who know exactly where the giants live, to the onboard staff who take care of every detail, the entire team works to make sure each guest feels supported, comfortable, and focused on catching trophy peacock bass.
Your home base deep in the untouched waters of the Rio Negro — designed for both comfort and adventure, giving you access to remote, low-pressure zones where trophy peacock bass thrive.
Three private suites — each with its own bathroom — an air-conditioned dining room, fully equipped kitchen, open front deck, and a rear launch area where you head out each morning.
A large open deck with a private bar, deck shower, four additional bedrooms, and a panoramic viewing deck up front — perfect for sunrise coffee or sunset drinks over the Amazon.
A second vessel travels alongside with crew quarters, extra storage, freezers, backup generators, and supplies — so the main boat stays organized and the operation stays prepared for anything.
Our private chef, Aldo, is a true master of Amazonian cuisine. With years of experience preparing traditional regional fish like tucunaré, tambaqui, and pirarucu, he brings out the authentic flavors of the rainforest in every dish — alongside international cuisine matched to our guests’ preferences.
Every menu aboard is thoughtfully curated and fully customizable, from gourmet meals to comfort-food favorites, with food and beverage service — including alcoholic selections — tailored to each group’s requests.
Everything aboard is designed with one goal in mind: maximum fishing time, maximum comfort, and zero operational stress for guests.
The operation is built around structure, comfort, and efficiency — from gear prep to dining to heading straight out to the fishing boats each morning.
Air-conditioned spaces, private suites, a deck shower for cooling off after a long day, and one of the best views you can experience in the rainforest.
A dedicated support boat keeps the main vessel uncluttered and the week running smoothly — fully equipped and prepared for any situation.
